'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' TV Spots 'Run' and 'Beautiful v2' - Highest Quality and Breakdowns

You know who it is! Last night there were a couple of surprise new TV Spots that aired and they actually gave quite a few more quick looks at the film. This is not an April Fools joke I promise.

You know who it is! Last night there were a couple of surprise new TV Spots that aired and they actually gave quite a few more quick looks at the film. This is not an April Fools joke I promise.

This one is titled ‘Run’:

And this one is a shortened ‘Beautiful’ TV Spot with a few new shots:

Man Legendary is doing a bang up job showing the scale of this conflict. Unlike the last breakdown where I went through every minute detail of the TV Spot, this time I will be focusing only on the brand new content.

Let’s start off with ‘Run’:

This is the lead up shot to Godzilla firing off his call to arms beam. I love having a Godzilla with personality again.

This is the first shot that was actually part of the exclusive footage shown at Wondercon. Vera Farmiga’s character sets off a series of bombs in the antarctic to awaken Ghidorah. Now why would she want to go and do that?

Madison is running towards the Mothra Larva who doesn’t seem as peaceful as in the other trailers. Looks like something may have upset her (notice that the lighting is very different from every other shot of the Larva).

This is probably one of the best Rodan silhouette shots we have gotten from these trailers and it goes by super fast (hence the image being a bit blurry). We have talked about our love for this design to death but there is no denying how perfect he looks.

So it seems the official number of known titans is seventeen. This matches pretty closely with the amount of locked Monarch sites on the viral marketing website. Wonder how many we will get glimpses of in the film?

The next two shots are from the exclusive Wondercon footage and this one is of Ghidorah awakening. You really get a good look at how long his necks really are in this shot.

Ok so apparently Ghidorah is gonna get all of the amazing wallpaper worthy scenes in the film. Ghidorah seems to be pulling in the electrical energy from all around him and shooting it out of his wing tips. You can spot Godzilla get blasted away by this attack as well. Last thing to note about this is that is definitely Boston so this is from the climax.

So there are a couple of things to notice here. The first and most obvious is the map with all of the Monarch sites flashing on the left. Are all of the Titans waking up? On the right you can see the amazing scene of Ghidorah roaring on the top of the volcano. Little bit of trailer trickery here shows that Rodan is flying around Ghidorah in this trailer. They may be pulling a Marvel and slightly editing some shots to keep us guessing. The trailer implies that this is where Charles Dance’s character says his “Long Live the King!” line. If you recall I called that he was talking about Ghidorah way back in the Trailer 1 breakdown.

Man I love when they show off giant monsters roaring in environments where there are particulates flying around. Really shows the power of the air coming from mouths.

It’s interesting that this shot is flipped from when it showed up back in trailer two. Wonder which one will be in the finished film.

Ladies and gentlemen the Devil with Three Heads. Enough said.

First real scene of the physical battle between Godzilla and Ghidorah. This is the kind of stuff I am most interested to see in this film since there is no longer the motion limitation of suits.

Godzilla seems to really show off his beam in this film after only using it twice in the previous film. Maybe he’s powered up somehow? Or did he not use it in the last film cause he was still a sleepy boy?

A very good freeze frame of the new beam. Gone is the wispy fire from 2014. Now we have a very traditional Millennium/Heisei beam. I kinda liked the more realistic touch of 2014’s breath but just like in the Toho movies as he fights more powerful adversaries, he needs a more powerful attack to stand a chance.

The ‘Beautiful v2’ TV Spot only had three new things :

Another version of the destruction of DC. Ghidorah’s silhouette is way more noticeable in the sky.

We know each head’s facial expression is performed by a different motion capture artist but this is the first really good look at that. Each head has a very distinct expression. The right head looks like it may be maliciously evil, the left seems to be scheming, and the middle of course is the leader of the three. There’s a scary look of intelligence on the middle heads face that is extremely creepy and off putting.

Close up shot of Godzilla marching towards Ghidorah in the climax of the film.

What did you all think of the TV spots? Is there something that I missed in my breakdown?

That’s all of them that I have found so far but keep checking back as I will just keep adding links to this article as I find them. Nothing that will ruin the movie for you but if you want to go in blind I would avoid these until after the film releases.

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' - Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah Revealed!

Well this was certainly an eventful evening. The big ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ panel just happened at Tokyo Comic Con and we got way more stuff than we ever could have imagined. Check out all of the images!

Well this was certainly an eventful evening. The big ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ panel just happened at Tokyo Comic Con and we got way more stuff than we ever could have imagined. Check out all of the images!

First up we got a look at the new S.H. Monsterarts figure for the 2019 Godzilla design and you can really spot all the differences! His tail is rounded at the tip and his spines are now heavily inspired by the G’54 spikes.

Next they showed us some concept art of Mothra.

Wow look at the colored callback to the original design! The red dots on her wings were described as an evolutionary advantage, they are meant to camouflage her and look like Goji’s eyes. Very cool stuff!

Next up is a good look at an early concept design of Rodan! They got rid of the feathers in the final design that we’ll see in a second but man is he a beaut.

The cover image and this were the only things shown of Ghidorah so I really thought they were gonna hide his design till the release but these weren’t all the goodies the night had in store for us. S.H. Monsterarts got permission to show off their toys based on the designs for the movie so strap in folks!

Here he is folks and he looks better than my wildest dreams could have imagined him. He looks so demonic and threatening truly the devil has three heads.

A very interesting detail that someone on twitter pointed out is the back of Ghidorah looks alot like this really famous artist rendition of Satan as described in Dante’s Inferno.

Next up we got a look at the Mothra figure.

I’m not a huge fan of this new design in toy form but the concept art from earlier was amazing so I’m going to have to reserve my final judgement until we see this design in motion. The final of the big 4 is very impressive.

I’m gonna say it, I think this is my favorite Rodan design of all time! I love the magma texture on the wings! His armored plate like design is so freaking cool. So There were a few more things that got shown. Just like in 2014, Legendary commissioned a 3 meter tall statue of the king. and this thing really shows off the majesty of 2019 Godzilla.

One of the coolest things to note here (other than the better look at his new dorsal spike design) is that they seem to have adjusted his feet design a bit, giving him actual spread out toes unlike the 2014 elephantine feet. Last but not least we also got a quick tease of the updated Godzilla theme.

Bear McCreary really knocked it out of the park! Also the Mothra theme is supposed to be in the film as well! Finally they showed a quick teaser of the full trailer that we are getting NEXT WEEK! Mark your calendars folks!

What do you think of all the big reveals from Tokyo Comic Con?

Special shout out to Gormaru island for wrangling up most of the images you see here!

'Godzilla: The Planet Eater' Trailer 1 - That's a Long Snakey Boy!

Well it’s about time! After a few good glances at the movie via a poster and some quick snippits of footage shown to promote a film festival, we finally have our first full look at the third Godzilla anime film. Check it out!

Well it’s about time! After a few good glances at the movie via a poster and some quick snippits of footage shown to promote a film festival, we finally have our first full look at the third Godzilla anime film. Check it out!

Ghidorah’s ethereal glow is really visually appealing and the long snake like heads are very visually different from any Ghidorah we’ve seen in the past. He also seems to be able to change his density in some way since we see Ghidorah bite Godzilla but Godzilla’s hand passes right through it.

People worried that Ghidorah and Godzilla aren’t going to fight at all should be put at ease by this trailer. Also we do get a glimpse of Ghidorah having some sort of traditional body.

What do you guys think of the trailer? Are you excited to see the conclusion to the trilogy?

Gareth Edwards No Longer Directing 'Godzilla 2,' Who Will Take His Place?

'Godzilla 2' has lost its director according to Deadline Hollywood. Gareth Edwards claims that he is departing the American franchise he helped reboot in 2014 so that he can go back to working on smaller projects. The split with Warner Bros. is supposedly on good terms and the agreement was settled before the decision to push back the film for March 22, 2019. Max Borenstein wrote the latest version of the screenplay and WB is already searching for a director to replace Edwards.

This makes sense as the director is just finishing up 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' and the idea of rushing right into pre-production on another shared-universe tentpole film probably seemed incredibly daunting.

The big question is who will they get to replace him? Edwards had an amazing visual style when it came to shooting building-sized action, but rubbed fans the wrong way with his slow creature reveals and "less is more" approach with Godzilla himself. I'd love to see someone come in and be confident enough with the monsters to let them lead the story and action beats. Legendary and WB now have the rights to Rodan, King Ghidorah, Mothra, and several other Toho classic kaiju, so we should have a proper "versus" film with the sequel.

I really want to see some discussion from our audience on who should take over the reigns. My vote? Matt Reeves. He's shown that he can handle amazing giant monster action with 2008's 'Cloverfield,' while not letting the human characters in that film fall into generic and bland background caricatures. I also truly believe his work in 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' was stunning and that he gave real life to fictional creatures with independent personalities and instincts.

Who would you have step up to the plate?
